71 Nyhavn Hotel was established in an old warehouse, which is now preserved, in 1971. The warehouse was originally used for storage of spices and other articles of commerce from the Far East. As lorries and planes began to take over a great deal of the overseas trade, the importance of the warehouse was somewhat diminished. Consequently it was turned into a storage room for furniture.
